teenangel: But Elmo came before Zoe. He existed in the 1980's, but was merely a background character. But when Kevin Clash rose the character out of mediocrity into superstardom, Fran Brill had Zoe be created in 1992 as a complimentary female equivalent. So, indeed, Zoe could not have existed without Elmo's popularity spawning her very existance. Still, Zoe is a very headstrong female character in her own right and is--IMO--less annoying than her red menace "boyfriend" at times.

I got to see Zoe's preformer Fran Brill at the Center for Puppetry Arts. She talked about her carrer as a Muppeteer, and showed clips of her work. And I got to take a picture with both her and Zoe!

She's a very strong female character! She even attracts boys! Fran Brill does a great doing Zoe! I bet there are some boys who even have a crush on Fran Brill!

Zoe must really excited about her name being a song, since she seems so hyper.

Zoe is a pretty strong female character in her own right, and feminine enough that introducing Abby Cadabby wasn't really necessary in my opinion. (She likes jewelry and ballet, and feels closest to her female relatives/friends...does playing with a toy car like the Zoemobile cancel that out somehow?) In any case--this is one of Zoe's cutest solo numbers. Good job!

There are many ways to spell "Zoe". This is a demonstration of the most familiar way. And it's nice to know that the vaudeville-esque band was still doing new songs for the show well into the 90s. A very cute and lovable ditty from a very cute and lovable monster.
