on the set-su-bun day, the dad of the house dresses up as an ogor and comes into the house. the kids then throw dried beans at the ogor to send him away.it is supposed to symbolize the casting out of bad spirits and bad luck.so my 2yr hold just happened to really land one right in my eye!

  • wow what a great video! So detailed. Love Japan check here! happinessisjapan

  • Kore wa Tanoshi desu yo. Atarashii Setsubun shikitari, Oni wa suto shimasu.

    Translation:

This is funny. A new Setsubun tradition, strike(punch) the demon.

  • I wanna see Braden punch you in the face again! I miss you dude.

  • My son was just terrified on Setsubun...I also put a vid of it up, click on my name if you want to check it out. We're down in Osaka.

  • Thanks for uploading XD

  • i've seen people putting the oni mask on dogs; i'm guessing for that reason. a plush oni might be a better idea though. give your child a target without a nervous system.

just wait until he's about belly button high. those straight jabs/grabs from nowhere take some getting use to.
