If you think the no-strings-attached $200 welfare bonus checks were bad, wait until you drill down into Senator Darrel Aubertines latest taxpayer giveaway.
Aubertine was the prime sponsor of a new Green Jobs plan that, like Aubertine, is the darling of the controversial Working Families Party, the left-leaning activist group that brought an army of highly paid volunteers by the busload from Brooklyn to the North Country last winter to aid Aubertines election campaign.
Payback!
WFP-linked ACORN is expected to be a major recipient of the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars that Aubertines plan diverts from government energy conservation programs to so-called community groups who are supposed to perform the same tasks, but without the same skills or oversight.
The bill was a top priority of the WFP and ACORN, and not really the brainchild of Aubertine at all--its chief government pusher was disgraced former Obama aide Van Jones, the 9-11 denier wwho was forced to resign last week.
And if you hadnt heard about ACORNs proficiency on the energy conservation and weatherization front, youre not alone.
The group is much better known as a community agitator, regularly in the media for alleged voter fraud and election schemes.
Most recently, ACORN agents were caught on an unbelievable, jaw-dropping, undercover video giving advice to a supposed pimp and hooker couple on how to disguise an underage prostitution ring.
Among the advice: list hookers as performing artists, write off condoms as expenses, and claim a bakers dozen illegal immigrants as dependents.
Grilled on his plan during Senate debate this week, Aubertine struggled, but eventually rattled off a long list of potential groups that could qualify for state funding.
But he was certain that ACORN wasnt one of them.
And what about all those jobs—as many as 15,000—that Aubertine insists will be created by his plan?
In press releases and public pronouncements, Aubertine insists his bill will benefit Upstate most.
But he was forced to admit that there is nothing in the bill to guarantee it.
So, more tax dollars for downstate. But this time, they got an Upstate pol happily to go along with it.

  • ACORN better not be on the list to receive millions of our taxpayer dollars. ACORN workers were just caught on hidden cameras helping to set up child prostitution rings. Sick sick sick!

  • They are not on the list for millions they are on the list for 8 Billion. Or...WERE.
