The last part of a 33-minute conversation with Roland'o about his "Peace Walk".

With startling clarity and simplicity, he shows us how to resolve the conundrum mentioned in Part IIIb -- of being caught in an unpleasant situation with seemingly no way out.

Once you hear his answer, you will realise he has correctly identified the only path to lasting conflict resolution.

It is so simple, it may seem trite. But it's not trite. Sometimes the truth is that simple.

It's the only way.

It worked for the IRA. It worked for the Britons when, following the demise of Boudicca, they allowed the flag of Anglo-Saxonism to be raised over the land they had peviously squabbled over with the Gaels, who had got there before them. It worked for Mikhael Gorbachev, the best thing to happen to Eastern Europe since Kublai Khan was eventually persuaded to listen to Karma Pakshi and become a builder instead of the destroyer his grandfather had been. http://www.kagyu-asia.com/l_kar2.html
It worked for de Klerk, the unsung hero of South African politics who took the brave step of giving Nelson Mandela the chance to become a statesman instead of a terrorist http://www.capetown.at/heritage/history/newSA_mandela.htm.
de Klerk's judgement was spot on -- what a great statesman Mandela turned out to be !
If Morgan Tsvangirai was half the man de Klerk was, Zimbabwe would not be in the mess it is now.

It's a long journey to get to the Roland'o frame of mind, but that's the only way anyone can find a lasting solution to their own life's dificulties, be they large or small.

Please do take a first step toward finding your own peace, and sign the petition. Pass it on, and you will have already taken a second step on your journey of a thousand miles.

A thousand miles is a long way, but it's not forever.

By making a personal declaration to yourself, as well as to the rest of the world, with your pen as well as your intention, you will be amazed and delighted at what a good effect it will have on you.

Roland'o is not a trained scientist, nor a psychologist -- but no professional worth his salt can meaningfully disagree with his conclusion.

Were he still alive, i am sure Mahatma Ghandi would agree with Roland'o, for the alternative is too terrible. In his own words, uttered in his dismay at chaos that ensued upon the achievement of his objective of getting the British to simply walk away from India, "an eye for an eye, making the whole world blind".

Thatcher and her followers got it all wrong. Refusing to communicate openly with aggressors only exacebates the situation - by refusing to talk openly to terrorists, she gave (not denied) them the oxygen of publicity.

Fight fire with fire and we all burn in Hell on Earth.

i am not a Christian, but a lot of things that (mythical? composite?) guy is said to have said make a whole lot of sense. 'Love thy neighbour' is maybe asking a bit too much, but you can forgive him his trespasses.
