Rat Terrier playing with a RAT!

Rat terriers were bred to hunt rats on farms. Here is one playing with a rat. They were raised together, along with several other species, including a nutria. Cookie has not been seen since she jumped out of my boat while rescuing people during Hurricane Katrina. If anyone possibly knows of her whereabouts, please contact me. She jumped out in just 1 foot of water. So I think she is alive somewhere. She is the only thing that we lost that really matters to the family.

Best dogs in the world. I've had many different dogs in my life that were great, but my ratty is on a totally different level.  Anyone that has one knows what I'm talking about.

i thought rat terriers kill rats not play with them

and run away from them

my rat terrier ran away im 9 im so sad his name is Gambit my dad says thr coyotes got him or someone came to our house and took him

I am glad to see that even dogs bred to hunt rats can be socialized to play with them. I have rats, and I now know that I might one day be able to get a terrier, without endangering my rats.

I have a rat terrior but its half chahuahua so I nameed him Padro its a spanish name I think my grandma says it means Pete. He is crazy yesterday he broke his chaina nd i was looking for him and this morning I saw a blanket on the porch for my sisters dog moving and when i looked i saw him in there with his toe stuck between the rings of the chain.

That rat should be called a "Terrier Rat" because half the time the rat was actually chasing the dog! xD
