This is a DIY underwater HD camera casing for Aiptek Action GCS HD video camera. Made of Home Depot PCV knee ((9.99), Quick-Cap (3.49), and plex window on PVC cement. Tested up to 110 ft /33 m. Check the results here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTfM_kHLlzE

  • Still make the job! You can use more sophisticated tools if you have them at hand

  • hows the sound on this rig?

  • @videobrooke54

You can evaluate the sound on this clip outube.com/watch?v=gTfM_kHLlzE

Sand at the bottom is clearly hear on it.

  • can you put any camera into this housing?? and how deep do you think it will take? i have an underwater camera but it only goes to 10 foot so could i use this to take it deeper??

  • Hi catfishftw !

I have tested it to the depth of 100 ft (c. 30 m) on several occasions. Worked well. As regards other cameras: go to the plummer's supply shop with you camera and try your camera with various elbows.

  • jsut go buy a GoPro

  • Did buy it, and was disappointed: it does not focus underwater. The manufactures are working on the problem, but it seems it needs a special underwater case to film underwater. Technically it can be submerged deep enough, but at the moment it is completely useless under water.

  • Cool I going to make something like this but it will have to strait instead of using an elbow

  • you know a heck saw isn't made for pvc

  • Wow wat an amazing job

  • @AaronCallais depends on how much you want to spend....you can buy a fujifilm z33 wp or an olympus stylus tough 6020 for a couple hundred bucks but if your going big im sure they have options towards $1000. Honestly though, I can use the 2 stated above for all purposes anyway so id just go with one of those preferably the olympus becaause it's idiot proof lol (shock, dust, water, freeze)

  • @catfishftw im looking for a underwater camera but i dont want to spend more then $1000 if i have to i would but what kind of camera you have are would recommend for me?

  • i like it
