I remember this serie....the goal of Joe Sakic was good it was the worst decision from a referee in all sports history ! KOvalev just fake the injury like he does 2 years ago in Montreal! Nordiques was a kick ass team those years ! What an offensive team ! We really miss nhl in Quebec..just bring us the Trashers or any other team that no one cares about !!

remember this, they wouldnt have won the 96 cup in quebec. had they stayed in quebec under that ownership, you would have never seen Patrick Roy in a Nordique jersey. atleast thats my belief, i'm sure others would agree also.

It was Van Hellemond; worst call in any sport at any time. It cost Van Hellemond his career and reputation which has a huge black mark on it. Kovalev should have been suspended for the dive...but he is still diving today...This was a GREAT NORDIQUES team and would have won many Stanley Cups.Too bad they ran out of money and desire.

@Derek70388 right, but i doubt it. Montreal (I'm sure) would never trade the best goalie in the league to a division rival. Remember than Quebec and Montreal were old Adams (Northeast) Division rivals, and you dont want to give a rival like that a superstar. Once Quebec moved to Denver and the Western Conference, it was ok to pull off.  It's like if Pittsburgh ever traded Crosby, you can bet that Philadelphia or New Jersey would never get him.

btw, one of the worst trades in NHL history.

@NYR21135 He may have ended up a Nordique. Remember Roy is from Québec City. It's still Québec. Toronto is the one place Roy would never go to IMO.

Quebec had a really good year and it's too bad they could not get past the first round. Stephane Ficet and Jocelyn Thibault were a pretty good 1-2 punch in net.
