The Coalition government wants 'outstanding' schools to opt-out of the Local Authority and become separate 'Academies'. The Governing Body of Tidemill School in Frankham Street, Deptford, SE8 is to make this decision. The new school building aims to be part of a community facility on Giffin Street, in the heart of Deptford. This is a decision for the whole community -- not just Tidemill governors.

  • THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE LBL - Frankie Sulke (check the academies.sayingno.org for the Actual letter) we can see the "nonfictional" concerns being answered

For the so called "Myths" you get "REAL FACTS" in a very clear evidenced way.

LEWISHAM MP Rt Hon Joan Ruddock MP

We have a clear response - clearly expressing huge doubts surrounding Tidemills' Headteachers' shameful "Academy Status" drive.

I do hope this NEW info penetrates even the toughest of Rhino Skins!

  • What an idiot...hee hee

Country’s highest paid Superhead Mark Elms gets maths wrong in academy bid

The governors at Tidemill Primary School in Deptford are about to withdraw their application to become an academy. Though the school governors previously voted 8 to 5 on the 2nd of December 2010 to take the school into academy status, it has recently come to light that the financial breakdown presented by Mark Elms was in fact seriously flawed.

    Surprised??

    not by that incompetent fool!

  • i say no to tidemill academy

  • Don't forget! Tidemill now has the "Business manager" to personally help you complete the Academy Consultation form!! - Mind you there is no option to disagree - just a tick the box and agree that you have been involved in the Consultation - Easy!

Great to know who we can trust on this age of Austerity.

You just tick in the box!

  • Mark Elms wants Tidemil to become an Academy

    FYI

Academies pit each school against all the others in a bid for limited and diminishing resources from central government, academies will buy services from the private sector, who will take a profit. They won't be independent, parent run, ideal schools, but controlled eventually by big business.

Local authority control has democratic accountability written into it - And it is collective, running a family of schools in a local area for everyone.

  • I agree!! - Respect to people in Deptford!

I have been to ALL the meetings held, just as well too.

Its necessary to remember that "Elms" + Tidemill Leadership team wanted a "Quick fix" at the end of term in the Summer . A “Tick the box” unrealistic consultation stitch-up (As many schools did experience in the UK this summer)

Parents saw through this “Lack of real” consultation and have managed to inform people, the local community and governors of the implications on such a big decision.

  • Good to see the people of Deptford Representing !!

    and having a voice!

    USE OR LOSE IT!!

    What a fantastic community!

    Local Politics at it's best!!
