My friend and I took our vehicles to The Mounds off road vehicle park in Michigan last weekend. Here's a quick video I threw together using some of the still photos and movies that we shot while we were messing around. We had an absolute blast!

  • My video of that day is posted on my page now. Also is a slide show of The Gaines myd bog from the 4th of July.

  • No, But we had Orange and a green Kawasaki KFX 700's. My husband and dad go there a lot, and they said that day was actually a dry day. It's usually much muddier. I have a pretty sweet video I am going to post from the same day. I'll send it your way when It's up here.

  • ok there is sth messed up with the comments. half of them wont post. maybe it wont post links.

  • I guess its a combination of length and rubicon, heavy frame and heavy axles. fj has better mileage for sure. No roofrack and an aftermarket airfilter would cancel out the effects of 33' tires on mileage:)

  • I guess its a combination of length and rubicon. Heavy frame and axles I guess. Fj has def better mileage, and gets even better mileage without a roofrack and with aftermarket air intake, which would prob be canceled out by 33' tires. which i believe fit on the stock fj...

Here look at my old off roader. a funny ol' mistubishi pick up. I beat the crap out of it but It just never breaks.

  • Wow, I thought Jeeps were supposed to get at least 17 MPG to like 24 MPG. I'll have to ask my friend about his. As for the FJ, I never get over 15-16 MPG city, but highway driving I've gotten as high as 23 MPG before. I mentioned premium because some people whine about gas prices (not me -- make it MORE expensive so people stay off MY roads please!). What the heck makes the new Rubicon so heavy?!

  • Yes Toyotas build quality makes jeeps look like one time use vehicles! but Dude. what are you saying about the mileage! the jeep has much worse mileage, and premium fuel is better, burns cleaner. jeep gets combined mileage:16. fj gets 20 or sth.

As for weight, hehe, the 2008 4 door rubicon 4400lb.. oh dear ;) fj is 100lb lighter and 40 hp stronger...

  • Oh, one other thing -- I'm amazed at how solid the Cruiser feels when under stress. Other cars I've owned have made small noises when going over speed bumps or what have you, but I never heard a peep when off-roading. I can't say whether Jeeps are as quiet since I've never ridden in one. All I know is that the FJ feels like a fricken tank!
