  • Hello Rohndoe, a really nice projects, congratulations.

Do you have any schematics about the used electronics? I mean StepGenie modul is clear, I already know this modul. I mean the pulse generator module with NE555 and IC4047. I think you used micro switches to reverse the stepper direction, right? If you don't have have the scematics anymore, could you please send me at least a sketch? I am not well experienced with electronics. It would be very nice of you. Many thanks in advance.

  • Wow, I thought I was the only one crazy enough to build a project like that. I built something similar about 10 years ago using a taig lathe as a base. Turned out not to be as useful as I thought in my case, but it was still a cool little project to build.

  • As long as you are having fun, right

It keeps the brain active and is less expensive than golf, lol

  • does it remember which direction the traverse was going if power is turned off or do you have to leave the machine on ? Im building a winder and have encountered this prollem.

  • diymania, what you see in the vid is a latching

Hall Effect switch to provide the direction logic

And yes it has a favored start up direction. What I generally do is rapid traverse it back and forth to set the limit stops then leave it set in the direction I want to start winding.

In the middle of a wind if I take a break i have a small lose magnet that I can wave in front of the sensor to get it to change direction.

    Thanks for the interest...

    Ron
