I'm not a big fan of the warp jump although i LOVE the film even with its plot holes. My biggest thing is Pike saying "punch it", hes not han solo although I know abrams prefers wars to trek, he should say "engage" like Pike originally did.

@nightsdreamparadox No, First Contact was flashy, but it wasnt smart. In the TV show, Picard never held a grudge against the Borg, and when given a chance to destroy the whole collective, he didnt, reasoning that they're lifeforms doing what they do to survive. Movie Picard killed his own crew when they werent even fully assimilated yet, when in the TV show, its obvious you can be brought back from assimilation. There are A LOT of stupid things in First Contact.

@nightsdreamparadox Sure, your Trek might be deeper, more character-centric.and filled with references that hardcore tekkies would get and appreciate. Question is, in today's world of ADD riddled audiences, would that make a lot of money? Nope.

Just see this Star Trek movie for what it is, flashy and fun to watch. It wasnt made for hardcore trekkies cause there arent enough of them left to turn a profit.

Just look at what happened to Star Trek Online.

@nightsdreamparadox It's actually a great film. You just forgot what made TOS fun and basically a western in space. The cumbersome, bloated, knees-don't-bend Frakes era is over. Time for Kirk's wiseass smirking again. It's still Trek -- it's just firmly working with the 60s concept -- and I think it excels for it.
