Back in the day this was a seamless connection to the ex WM Connellsville Extension running to Cumberland, MD. Ideally, the WM should have gone to the N&W, since N&W owned this P&WV line at the time. Chessie was too cheap, and pulled the WM up, even though the line had real value as a lower crossing of the Alleghenies than the ex B&O.

the engine sound sounds like 1 from trainz 2006,also the cars look like sum of the 1's they used in unstoppable

Is this the same line that runs along PA 51 then PA 88? I lived in Pittsburgh back in the '70s and remember when N&W was running trains thru Castle Shannon, etc (if this is the same route). I also remember the interchange with the Montour...

@moonspots01 Yes! That's the same line. Ex-P&WV, then N&W, NS, and now the W&LE. I have a good friend that was a dispatcher on the Montour. Another neat railroad that's gone. Thanks for watching...

Cool video! Any tips on catching action on this line? I know it doesn't see very heavy traffic. Anything besides the grain train still use the line? I cross over it on my commute every day (on route 43) and I've only ever saw a train there MAYBE three times.

They run something almost everyday. Usually to pickup coke at Monesson, sometimes they go to the interchange with the SWP at Everson PA. There hasn't been a grain train in a few years now, but they have been running about 80 car slab trains atleast once a month. They had just run one the weekend before last. It is more or less poke and hope on the times of any moves over the east end. Take care, Jack
