First movement, Allegro non troppo from Symphony No. 1 by the american composer Samuel Barber (1910 West Chester, Pa. - 1981) performed by the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra conducted by Leonard Slatkin. Pictures: Thomas Hart Benton.
What an incredible and powerful piece. There is no Sibelius here, as ignorantly said in the preceding post. Barber is the best American composer of the famous ones, in my opinion.
Awesome art work to go with it!!! Cheers!

Music from this symphony has been used for cue music for radio shows during the great days when there were network radio shows.

@signal899 - Sibelius may very well have influenced this work, but I believe it stands on it's own.

A deceptively good imitation of several composers, but especially Sibelius.
