@DCPartyKid but I did follow DPMS brake in procedure to a tea and actually exaggerated the process w/ more detail on cleaning between shots

@DCPartyKid damn, i was getting sub moa w/ any load I shot...with my 308 ap4...

@DCPartyKid Eh, I have three AR15's. I really want a 7.62 now. I'll be used to the weight due to the fact that I carry my coyote rig through the woods and fields all day long (heaviest 16" ar-15 you've ever seen, guaranteed. Burris xtr-14 in an LT104, nightvision scope always present and waiting on a side rail, ELR Torch, 16" .936" barrel, Magpul PRS stock. Total boat anchor.)
My SHTF gun will NOT be an ar-15, but an AR10 variant is a definite possibility, and cash is an issue.

I *heart* the 308 Win.

Looks like a very nice setup. The HD quality in your video is great.
I also enjoyed the noise in the background of fellow patriots exercising their 2nd Amendment rights.
This is the AP4 with the M4 profile barrel? If so I'm wondering what kind of accuracy you're getting at various ranges.

@Maat922 I'm not sure what DPMS is doing now...but when I bought this AP4, the barrel profile is the M4 profile ahead of the gas block and a HEAVY contour under the hand-guards. I sent the barrel to ADCO to be reprofiled thinner (0.675") and it shoots the same....about 2-3MOA @ 100yds with handloads and a red-dot (non-magnified).

@DCPartyKid Wow thanks for the quick reply. I was really thinking it would be more accurate than that honestly, especially with handloads, wow. Of course, that is a red-dot, and i tend to be more of a variable magnification kind of guy. I called DPMS today and told me the same about the barrel as you just stated. I was thinking it would be "government" under the handguards to save some weight and the awesome m4-style handling. What to do!?!!

@Maat922 I'm not that great of a shot. I'm sure I'm the weak link.
Some have reported fantastic accuracy out of the factory barrels...but DPMS also had some barrels with tight chamber issues a while back. And my police officer friend said the AP4s his dept. got had uneven hard-chroming that created an accuracy issue for them.
Honestly, I recently built a 14.5" BCM mid-length in 5.56 because the LR308 was just too heavy even after reprofiling the barrel as thin as was safe.

@Maat922
There is a dramatic difference in weight going to the 5.56 (it came with a lightweight profile barrel...superior to the m4 profile so long as you don't need an M203).
If you have to have a 308/762 AR...take a look at the LMT or the SR25 if you can afford it. I like the LMT because their rifle was adopted by the Brits. (Army?)...and the barrel, even though heavy also..can be easily removed for reprofiling if you decide to do that. I still think a 5.56 base is better for weight though

i wish you would do a review of this gun. i like the AR-10 and if you built this gun from parts letting us know the source of your parts would be great.
i like the fact you chosen the .308 as your freedom keeper weapon system cant go wrong!

thanks for the kind words. i'm a bit camera shy, and the rifle is constantly evolving...but I may post up a review and components list when i get a few more parts slapped on it.
in the mean time, if there are any specific parts you would like to know about, don't hesitate to ask.
