IR images of the 1993 Tomahawk shoot from USS Caron (DD970). Video was shot from the helocopter of the Frigate HMAS Canbera. One of Caron's pilots was along for the ride and he focused my Sony 8mm Camcorder on the IR camera monitor inside the helo. I was onboard Caron at the time of the launch and boy what a sight! Missles were bound for a nuclear weapons site near Bahgdad.
My Dad was serving on the Canberra when this video was shot.

This was not taken with a Sony 8mm. This is the video from the FLIR. Well done crewdogz.

Wow, interesting to see this video turn up again!
I was sensor operator on the helo that night and had locked the FLIR to track the ship during the launches, while I was at the helicopter door with the HMAS CANBERRA camera. You can see how the missiles' exhausts seduce the FLIR away and how I take it under manual control with one hand (with the other operating the official camera!) at 3:00. I wanted to catch the boosters splashing, and did so at 3:14, 3:42 and 3:55. A memorable night.
