Frozen strawberries have a density of Xn=.012, while sand displacement equals the amount of air in the interstice equal to .43Rs, therefore the officers actually ate more strawberries than were in the gallon can. Queeg was wrong, and the messboys did not eat the strawberries because the strawberries did not exist. I have proven this through incontrovertible logic.

It's really a mixed bag; Queeg was far from a good Captain and was unable to face the consequences of his mistakes, but the crew didn't make it any easier on him either.

This reminds me of the cherry-picking "logic" of science-deniers who are absolutely sure there's a conspiracy against their "right" to not pay taxes for environmental regulations, etc.

There are only two basic types of strawberries: 1) wild strawberries, about 1-2cm in height, slightly less in beam; 2) farmed strawberries, twice the dimensions. They are obviously talking about store-bought institutional-can strawberries. Therefore the ball-bearings are a good approximation.

I would have used ball bearings instead of sand. :3
