Thanks for posting this, a good lesson on how Mother Nature trumps all... It's a shame that the house had to go, but after all, it's just a house. And it had to go, or the safety of people could have been jeopardized.

Why did the put the wreckage back in the river? Just ends up on somebody elses property downriver for them to clean up! Not a proper thing to do at all!!!

Hey y'all... them pesky flood waters is a'risin'... y'all better get to some dry land before they.. OH NOOOOOOO! THEY JUST TOOK MY HOUUUSE!!!!
the problem was that the house was hung up on the bridge. Water was beginning to back up behind it and if they ddn't clear the blockage quickly the brook would have broken its banks further up-stream and flooded the whole lower part of town. It could also have conceivably pushed the bridge off it's foundation. True, the method was messy, but if it hadn't been done that way it could have been much worse for the town than it was.
