  • Class!

  • One of my favorites. John McCoy just lumbers back and forth across the stage! And Ian's hair is REALLY long! Love it. (After 5-6 comments, guess I should shut up.)

  • @ravensmead Oops, I already posted this info to you 4 mos. ago!

  • @ravensmead I just realized Ian rejoined Deep Purple in 1984 (the second time). After being fired in, I think 1989, he pulled some musicians together but was asked to rejoin DP in 1993 and has been there ever since. Think I have my years "close" now.

  • Ian you are the best!!

  • @empipemp I envy your seeing the band in their heyday. Never saw them perform. Appreciative of those who find the videos, etc., for YouTube!

  • @ravensmead

Actually, the second time Gillan went back to DP was in 1984 until he was fired in '88 or '89. The third "reunion" was 1992; he and rest of band have stayed together, except Ritchie unhappy and left pretty soon after that. Jon Lord retired a few years ago. (Think I have these dates pretty close to right! Wikipedia has info.) And I have his autobiography. He admits all his weaknesses but I think he's basically a sweet guy. And what a talent.

  • @ravensmead Ian Gillan, in his autobio says Gillan band split up because of some unrest and heavy touring - but mainly to give his voice a rest - was having problems with his throat. Then he went to Sabbath for a year - wasn't his style. Then DP courted him again and he rejoined in, I think, '92 and has stayed ever since.

  • BEAUTIFUL, FANTASTIC...CONGRATULATIONS

  • why did this lineup split up??? they were fabulousmungus !!!
