If the government is going to mandate English as the official language, then I think they should arrest you for bad grammar. "There should not be a question on what is the official language of the US is."

This is very wrong. First all foreigners should be required to learn English if they are going to live in this country. There should not be a question on what is the official language of the US is. It is and always should be English.
