I loved Field of Dreams, but 2 things bug the hell out of me and keep it from being the "greatest baseball movie ever:" Am I being too anal about this?
1) Ray Liotta is way too good-looking to play Joe Jackson. Randy Quaid (after a diet) would have been perfect...
2) The real Joe Jackson threw right, batted left, The movie has it just the opposite.
Never heard about shoeless joe jackson before about 10 minutes ago when i read some article about baseball cards worth money(lots of money) but now i'm fascinated by his story, checked in on imdb and saw this, Liota plays him right? costner irritates the crap out of me but is the film any good? it doesn't really look good but i have a feeling it might be...
That's wonderful that you remember a god awful film. However, you'll find that a vast and staggering number more remember Saving Private Ryan compared to a mediocre love story that ruined the main actor's career as he had next to no roles after that, and the director was never heard from again. Meanwhile Spielberg kept on directing, and Tom Hanks' and Matt Damon's careers have only done better since. What does that tell you?
it tells me that you and i are both entitled to our tastes in movies, and to our separate opinions. both movies you mentioned are fine by me. sorry to offend, i was only stating that i remembered (and liked) a movie that you so readily dismissed. have a good evening.
