@ceezmad1 I think you dont give people enough credit. It was Jim Crow laws that MLK marched against. Not restaurants. I know you know this, since you werent crazy with you argument, but the way I look at it is, that if any restaurant in 2010 would ban minorities, they would be boycotted and done so loudly. Yes, a few restaurants might close their doors, but no one with any sensibilities would go there. I trust people to create a better society than government.

Everyone forgets, or they have not been taught the fact that, the pro-segregation forces were the southern Democrats. The civil rights bill was written by Republicans and the Dems had to be dragged in kicking and screaming to vote on it. The "southern bloc" consisted of 17 Dem Senators and 1 Rep filibustered to defeat it. Strom Thurman (D-SC) was adamantly against it and said it was unconstitutional. Repubs want equality, Dems want slavery, it's in our history, read it people.
