Estimates indicate that the world tiger population has fallen by over 95% since the turn of the 20th century down to the current estimate of around 3,200 inidividuals. Three subspecies Bali, Javan and Caspian tigers were extinct by the 1980s.

2010 is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese calendar. It could also be the last opportunity to save the species in the wild.

  • Did you know that today there are more tigers "behind bars" in zoos and private captivity then in the wild?

WWF estimates that only 3200 tigers survive today in their habitat.

2010 is the year of the Tiger in the chinese calendar. It is also the year we must fight to guarantee that tigers will still exist in nature.

And if you are curious, this video was shot by WWF's team using a hidden camera.
