On the last Sunday of each month, LAVA - The Los Angeles Visionaries Association (http://www.lavatransforms.org) welcomes interested individuals to gather on the third floor of the historic Clifton's Cafeteria in Downtown Los Angeles (noon-2pm), for a loosely structured conversational Salon featuring short presentations and opportunities to meet and connect with one another. If you're interested in joining LAVA as a creative contributor or an attendee, we recommend Salon attendance as an introduction to this growing community. We also recommend the shortbread.

Special program at the February 27 Salon (with more Visionary presentations to be added closer to Salon day):

• LAVA Visionary John Dullaghan, director of Bukowski: Born Into This, leads a discussion about Charles Bukowski's youthful experiences in Downtown Los Angeles, from rooming house living on Bunker Hill to early employment at the Biltmore and Los Angeles Times, teenage excursions to the burlesque houses of Main Street, curious forays into the world of broken men along Skid Row's Nickel, and to the Central Library, where he found Ask The Dust by John Fante and a model for the writer he knew he could become.

Following the Salon, a limited number of people will join John and LAVA co-founder Richard Schave for a free Charles Bukowski-themed walking tour, part of the series The Flâneur & The City. • An acoustic set from LAVA Visionary The Ukulady and her Evil Sandwiches, a bass, banjo and omnichord ensemble playing Music To Eat Pie By.
