Joel Lee of Carlisle, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on May 7, 2008. Joel's life blessed all those who knew him. His father and mother, David & Teresa Lee were originally from Greenville, Mississippi. Joel spent his early years there. Joel had a heart condition at the age of four that made his body very weak. He received a new heart in Pittsburgh, PA in February of 1998 at the age of seven. Joel was completing his junior year at Abundant Life Schools in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Although his new heart required constant monitoring, Joel's life was not defined by his physical heart. It was defined by his heart for his family, his heart as a young Christian man, and his heart as a kind and gentle friend.
His father is the pastor of First Baptist Church in Carlisle, Arkansas. David Lee bravely eulogized his son, Joel. He boldly proclaimed John 14:2 that described "In My Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" He also explained Philippians 1:21 "For me to live is Christ to die is gain." as it relates to Joel's new life.
Joel Lee showed us how to live. He will always be remembered.
This is surreal. My name is Joel Lee. My father's family is from Carlisle, AR and his father is from Greenville, MS. Small world?
