The public affairs office at Fort Smedley Butler in Okinawa, Japan was Sgt. Moore's next assignment after leaving the Defense Information School (DINFOS) in late July of early August 1984. He planned to complete his degree in education from the University of Maryland extension program while there. This stories from that time ("Marines give children a taste of bootcamp as they aspire for the title 'Young Marine.' ") can be found at http://www.okinawa.usmc.mil/Public%20Affairs%20Info/Video%20Archive%20Page.html

  • well i think tht in 1958 we were probaly still in new england

  • im not saying anything bout the bout scouts but there is a complete and total diffence. we do not learn about war. we teach marine corps values and Ym values. Honer. discipline. strengh. integrity. we teach the same as the millitry but as you falsly stated, with out the concept of war

  • no one seems to get that

  • I am sure you appreciate the program, but what makes you different from the children that are eventually brainwashed and recruited into war in Africa and in the Middle East? Just because you are defending American values (capitalism and overconsumption) suddenly makes it ok? There is a definite double standard here and as usual the general Yankee popultaion never see it. Blind fools. Join the boyscouts instead!

You should be joining the boyscouts and you would learn the same ideals but without the war-connotation.
