If you're not using the convenience keys on your cell phone, Mark and Steve think you should. Steve Lee, product manager, and Mark Crady, engineering manager, are both on the Google Maps for mobile team. In this video, they talk about how easy convenience keys are to set-up and how useful they are to launch Google mobile applications. They demonstrate how to set-up convenience keys on a BlackBerry, Blackjack, and an N95. The video culminates in a mobile phone duel between Mark and Steve. Who wins? Watch to find out!

You can do a lot more short cuts with the Blackjack then the one mentioned in the video.
You can add programs as well as phone numbers to speed dial.
Go to start
Highlight the program you want to short cut Press menu and hit Add Speed Dial
Then pick the keypad assignment
You can assign to any number from 2-99 (1 and 0 are reserved)
Simply press and hold the button to launch the app, just like making a phone call.

These convenience keys are nice-- although why does it have to be so hard to configure? Radio presets on cars make a lot more sense.
One other thing, are these guys for real?
He lost the duel because he's old -- I bet he's never sent an sms.
Guy on the right has nice jeans.
