Absolutely correct. He should have been a homeless advocate the whole time. He is the only former president who decries his succesors. Clinton gave Bush space as Bush sr gave Clinton his. Everyone forgets what 1979 was like under his horrible leadership.

I agree with you completely. His humanitarian work is hugely impressive. And I agree with most of his political views.

Carter was an excellent president, people just don't see it. It was he who appointed Volker, it was his energy policies that allowed oil usage to go down during the mid 80's during the biggest boom since the 50's (made possible by Carter appointee, Volker), Carter was honest about the inflation, unlike Clinton and Bush and now Obama. Inflation in the late 70's was caused by Nixon closing the gold window and all the spending with Vietnam, Moon, Great Society... Carter wasn't thinking short term.
