the idea that you're allowed to marry more than one wife is beautiful. it gives a woman the respect and honor she deserves and provides her with security. I don't know why people go crazy about it. The only explanation i can come up with is that people with who have mistresses dont want to take responsibility for them.

@saifMSK well I could come up with another reason, its beautiful to give your love and affection to just one women! I completely disagree that it gives her respect how can it be respectful to know your husband could have another 4 other women who he has sexual relations with! how can it be respectful that a husband can pick another wife when he gets bored of you! the only reason I can see to this is to trap women I dare say feminism would have a lot to say about it

many single and married do cheats their mates. I don't find it more respecting than having multiple wives. even men who are related to one women get bored and many get divorced. its is not about sex only. it is about social and financial security also.

since man are responsible for taking care of their women.

it is not compalsery. women can decide if they want to take the relation to where they want.

@absissac ok, well firstly this surplus of women you talk about is not universal some countries actually have more men than women in which case what is to be done with surplus men? I think your jumping a step just because their is more women than men does not mean men should be allowed more than 1. These surplus women you speak of, they don't all have to marry its kind of an irrelevant question really in western countries their is no huge issue of what do to with surplus women.
