How do I remove a diode from the module without destroying the diode?

I used the solder blob method, it seemed easier than this. Just need a pair of good, sharp tweezers. First I grabbed on to the first layer, and heated, and pulled it off. Then the second one, I did the same thing.

what did you use to recess the diode?

If you go to laserpointerforums-com and contact FlaminPyro he makes a tool to remove the diode without damaging it.

back then i used a little metal piece i found at the hardware store.
FlaminPyro on laserpointerforums-com makes tools special for pressing the diode all the way in. i believe he sells them for $15

desolder the pins instead of scrping stuff away :')

PHR diodes have two PCB boards soldered onto the pins. Many times the pins can break or bend very bad when trying to simply desolder them. It's easier to cut the board off on a PHR.
desoldering is a great method for the lpc-815 though.
