See Rupert Bergmann as Punch in a production of "Punch an Judy" by Harrison Birtwistle. Junges Forum Musiktheater Hamburg 2001, staging by Brigitta Otto with Julia Henning (Judy).
They did not get the plot for this out of "Baby and child care" by Dr. Benjamin Spock (no, not from the "Star Trek"). This looks very promising right off the bat, try putting it on in the U.S., well, maybe not, kinda too advanced... Has this been recorded?...the music holds up way better than Shostakovich' "Lady...".
Like Carter he seems to have given a bit of a neo-classical polish to Varese, but emphasised different aspects of the Frenchman than E.C. I admire what he has accomplished.
@fremsley001 he missed :P

Dim the lights, put on some Birtwistle and read H.P. Lovecraft... That's an experience!
