Great song - and I actually worked with one of Hedghoppers Anonymous (so named because they were in the RAF), at Swish in the 80's. A really nice guy -now sadly passed-on...

If I remember rightly, the BBC at first refused to play this (ditto the Eve of Destruction), but had to give in when it became a hit.

That album would I think be "The World of Hits" Vol 2, put out by Decca c1969 and featuring various hits on that label and its subsidiaries over the period 1963-68.

I heard it was the other way around. In the U.S. we heard the "sacred cow" version because the censors didn't want the "birth control" version.
