In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, there is data for two unused Pokémon cries. In a German debugging version of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire (Debugging Version 0509A) which was purchased in 2010 and later dumped by drx, it's possible to access these Pokémon in the Driver Test menu; the cries are for index numbers 266 and 269. More information about the prototype Pokémon Ruby (Debug Version) can be found on The Cutting Room Floor. It had a lot of functions, such as changing the weather, flying anywhere and editing your Pokémon. (See also Gligar14Vids' playthrough)

Also of note is that cries 252-266 do not match with the real Pokédex numbers in game, starting with Kecleon (which was actually the first Generation III Pokémon revealed) as No. 252. This ordering ends with Linoone's cry as No. 266. Outside of battle, these Pokémon are ? glitch Pokémon (the ?? kind) and use Unown's cry.

It's anyone's guess what the cries were meant to be for, perhaps they were meant to be for Shellos and Gastrodon when they were planned for Ruby and Sapphire, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be another Pokémon, such as the scrapped clone sheep Pokémon mentioned in an @Gamer magazine interview.

  • I was just reading about these on Bulbapidia eulrer today and then whin I log on to Youtube I find this video in my (now retarded youtube homepage thanks to google) Subscription log, lol

you gonna do a simaler vid. for the unreliced 1st Gen cry's?

  • @pfaccioxx I miss the old Youtube too, I don't like Google as much now, I prefer to use DuckDuckGo.

I added about these to Bulbapedia (the details come from IIMarck.us), but I don't really trust what I added to the article now (one of the cries sounds very similar to Crobat but it isn't identical). Yes, I will.

  • Awesome find.

I'd like to support the theory of these cries belonging to Gastrodon and Shellos.
