That groggy sound when u give it gas means ur carb needs to be rebuit its send gas to places were it shouldnt go. I had that same problem in with my truck!
My Q-jet carb was rebuit right an that groggy sound was gone.

My Q-jet carb was rebuit right an that groggy sound was gone. Groggy purr sound to be exact.

@MRALEX351 I rebuilt it the summer of 2010 when it refused to accelerate without cutting out. Didn't help much, and it completely stopped running this past (2010-2011) winter. A few parts in the distributor had snapped clean off, been running much better since then. A bit off still, but better.

@MCurry48 Even now it's still not running right. It originally had a 305, then the previous owner swapped it for a (supposedly) rebuilt 350. I'm still figuring out exactly what he changed, wires that lead to nothing, charcoal canister with 1 line attached, who knows what the fuel tank/lines are like.
