This song, as the rest of "Threepenny Opera" is a song about life in the underbelly, as an outcast. This version is closer to the intent of the song: the beauty and horror of murder in the depths of poverty, where you can take a chance and reach for the beautry and connection of "screwing" only to be murdered.
