  • A call to arms! Makes me wanna cover my boat race in plastic, march backwards, and spontaneously explode! PS We all get blown up in the end; that's life.

  • Is that Mac from Superchunk and Mitch Easter from Let's Active??

  • Anyone know where I can find the mp3 online?

  • @ratbasket this music makes me feel good right now or any other time i listen to it. that's relevant to me

  • wake up america play this song and take are government back

  • @wmotamedi Don't mention it - besides, I think I'm probably in the minority in this debate anyway. :p If you're gonna do Shudder To Think, I recommend the album Pony Express Record - there are full scale promos for the songs Hit Liquor and X-French T-Shirt that are well worth checking out. Beggar's Bowl is off Polvo's latest album (In Prism), which is really good, but the earlier stuff is excellent too; "Tilebreaker" is a personal favourite. Happy listening!

  • @orphanswork And thanks for turning me onto Polvo! I'm hearing them for the first time, and I am seriously considering buying one of their albums. Beggar's Bowl is a great song. I'll look up Shudder to Think later today when I get the time.

  • @orphanswork Sorry for my brashness. I will say that even though I do not have a firm grounding in music theory, my experience as well as my own personal criteria for what makes a song outstanding and what doesn't has lead me to that assertion. You bring a very interesting (and dare I say, valid) counter argument. If we are speaking strictly in terms of producing a pleasant sound, then no; constant harmonies are not always necessary (see: At the Drive In). But in this case, AOL fails in regard.

  • @wmotamedi ...I should stress also that I'm not interested in trading insults or taking away your right to say what you think - what I am interested in is debating a point with someone who has an opposing view to me. No trolling here! :p

  • @wmotamedi Apologies if my last comment came off a little personal - what offended me about your statement was the implication that all music must be harmonically perfect at all times, and that any band that doesn't meet this criteria is immediately either acting disingenuously or unconsciously doing something wrong. Especially with this sort of 90s Chapel Hill stuff, dissonance is built into the framework of the songwriting - check out Polvo or Shudder To Think for examples of what I mean.

  • @orphanswork First off, congratulations. You're the first internet-dwelling retard I've encountered this week. Secondly, my criticism IS relevant because it pertains to the song, Einstein. And I never said I hated Archers of Loaf. I just can't stand this song. And I have every right to express my opinion. "Patronizing" (It's spelled with a 'z', moron. I swear it's true. Look it up.) or not, it's still a very valid opinion rooted on fact. Get over yourself.

And who the fuck is Chris Martin? 0_o
