This is the rough draft of a poem I'm writing, and my throat is equally rough, since I'm currently really sick. I tried four times to read it without bursting into a fit of coughs, so this is the best you're getting for now. Anyway, please leave comments below. Constructive criticism is welcome.

Poem:
Tourette Syndrome
by Brian Jeppesen

Look for me in the child
Whose body refuses
To quit moving,
In the head bobbing
And throbbing to the ebb of the day,
In the eyes rolling upward
Playing tug-of-war with nerves,
In the red-beaded scabs bubbling
And painting his fingernails
Red-speckled spray.

Look for me in the sound
Which bursts from lips
Like a lake through a broken dam,
In the honking and humming
and suffocating whys
Which drown conversations all around,
In the obscenity which targets
The black man near the dresses
Whose daughter waves off the stress
Of a dance nearby.

Look for me in the birds
Which tap the tip of each fence post
Before taking flight,
And in that height, sees
Every little post, every little tapping tic,
yet permits no control,
In the leaf which falls from its mother,
When neither leaf nor mother knows why,
In the withering decay which straps
That leaf in strips of brown sick.

Look for me in the whisper
That whisks past your knees
and speaks of winters birthing chill,
In the breeze beating your eyes
Into submission, in the pulsating shadows
Which reach out with rusted metal
To jab at your sides and knock you
Into the path of a blue sedan
Which tries to stop, but hits black ice
and loses control.
