In this technology demonstration we look at how the quality of photos and videos can be enhanced by using the performance and flexibility of the ZMS processor's StemCell array to apply real-time de-noising and sharpening filters to the image stream coming from a camera sensor.

The image sensor, camera lens and electrical design of a system all contribute to the level of noise we see, which is especially evident in videos shot in low-light environments.

In this video we use real-time HD image streams and the ZMS-40 processor to apply denoise filters to improve image quality, a sharpening filter to enhance image detail and addition we will highlight the significant reduction in encoded files size resulting from the use of denoising, something that is especially useful in video conferencing situations where we are looking to maximise the image quality per byte of traffic sent.
