BIG ISLAND, HI - In Hawaii, lava from the big island's puu oo cater is flowing toward the ocean.
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory spokeswoman Janet Babb says on Tuesday the flow was about 1 1/2 miles from the ocean.
There are reports hundreds of people watched the lava flow Monday night from a viewing area at Kalapana.
Meanwhile, the flows have reached an abandoned subdivision. The lone remaining resident of the Royal Gardens subdivision says the current flow was about 500 yards from his home.
