The Last Gay Marriage Rally (7 Dec, 2006)

This protest is expected to be the last Equal Marriage protest ever (in Canada). Organized by Carleton Univerity, the protest on Parliment Hill asks MPs to close the debate forever. FYI, Equal rights won.

What I don't understand is how you can just change a definition; in this case "marriage". Why can't you queers (I say queers because that's what you refered to yoursleves as in the video) call it a civil union and be happy. That's like changing the definition of a square so that it includes a circle. I'm with Harper on this one.

That is funny, because Harper has accepted that Marriage is now Queer-friendly.

Marriage in Canada is traditionally defined as the transfer of property (a woman) so as to stop men from cheating...but that changed. Only 40 years ago, marriage was illegal between people of different races...but that changed. And before that marriage was illegal between religions...but that changed too.

In some countries they recognize same-sex marriage (that is how marriage is defined there).

The reality is that the definitions of words change. And marriage as a CIVIL right has changed quite a lot.

This is not about changing marriage...RELGIOUS marriage has not changed (but note that many religions believe in marrying same-sex couple). This is about the state offering the same rights to all its citizens.
