You are viewing an improv jungle type jam from the Extension Chords -All Improv- set for SXSW at the Dig Pub on March 21st 2009 in good ol' Texas. There are no loops at all. All sounds are played in real time. Come see us.
The Weapons used:
Michael Powell- Mandala V.1, HPD15, SPDS
Todd Wink- ZenDrum
Gabriel Barrientes- Mini Kaoss, Kaossilator, KP3

  • Come to CA! I got to see this. Do you have a kick trigger too? It is dark and I cant tell if you are doing the kick work with your feet. Sick fast D&B playing. Would love to see Tom Jenkinson sit in on this.

  • Yes. A KD-8 is wired to the SPD-S for bassdrum action.

  • What's the guy in the back playing... it looks like a Drumtar...or Guidrum.... or something.

  • Zen Drum

  • You can tell its "on the fly", but it's really good. Takes a bit to get going. At 2:37 it totally comes together and sounds dope. I like how the guy is putting Kaoss pad effects on everyone else. The 1/2 time at 4:46 really makes it unreal. Best video I have seen of Mandala in a real application. Most vids are some guy noodling around and I never could see what it could really be used for. As for the "zendrum", I wish I could see it better. Post up some vids with good clean A/V.
