Yes, I know about "Modal Soul Classics II." I am not trying to compete with Hydeout and the Nujab fam (pssh, how could I?) and I am not trying to profit out of this (Each track is available for free download). I started working on this album way back in February after I heard The News, and this clip was basically me getting down one of the main drafts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOyR2p90mow. I read a comment on another Nujab tribute video that said "Don't be sad that he's gone, be glad that he lived" and that basically cemented my ambition to complete my album as a tribute to Nujabes. With the exception of one track, each song is primarily lyric-less. I chose to start the former part of the album as a sad, reverent tone but build up to an uplifting vibe at the very end (as a nod to "Be happy that he lived"). Most of the beats were made by myself but I was very happy to have help from "Turkey" Lurke, the pianist to one of my favorite bands---Darkmoocher. If you like the music that's cool and if you think it's whack then that is alright, too. I don't know if any of the guys at Hydeout will ever come across this, but I just knew that I needed to give something back to a great artist who influenced me and several other people. Rest in Beats, Nujabes.
