Having seen Jonathan and Charlotte do their legendary "Metamorphosis" routine in the '80s - and knowing them to be one of the FOREMOST magic acts in the world - I couldn't understand WHY they elected to do AGT.

I was relieved when they gave a PERFECT rendition of Metamorphosis - but what the...?

Turns out that after a brilliant '90s, they have had a rough '00s - a professional injury to Jonathan, then a shooting incident - followed by him doing 8 months in JAIL.

I have to agree with the comments, they are established Illusionists and shouldn't need to prove them in front of these 3 'judges', this Illusion is amazing, but they perform it as they would in their show, but here there's no background, the audience hasn't been warmed up, the whole atmosphere around the illusion is lost, to me it's pulled a little bit out of context, but still, great job Charlotte & Jonathan!

FWIW, the Pendragons were seeking a divorce as of last year and he was forbidden to be in contact with his wife for at least five years after he fired a gun at her during a heated argument. Very, very sad story. I saw them on the original World's Greatest Magic special back in 1994. Don't know why on earth they were on AGT given their reputation, unless they had somehow fallen on harder times and couldn't get a contract.
