I got this truck from the California Office of Emergency Services (OES). It was originally a generator truck that pulled a mobile command post. I guess that makes it kind of "Arnold Swarzenegger's Pickup", since the OES reports to the Governor's office! I don't normally give vehicles names, but this one had been apparently named "Big Jack" by the OES -- see State of California asset tag. Now it's a pickup -- a big pickup!

  • WOW!!! VERY NICE!! This is the only video I could find with a Ford C-series tilt-cab truck, except for one or two fire truck videos. Nice truck and best of luck to you with it. I've sat in a few of them but never got to drive one. I know they are a dream to drive.

  • Thank you for the nice comments. I drive this truck almost every day. It gets pretty good mileage unloaded. It drives great and even fits in a standard parking space - of course it's just gigantic compared to everything else. You can haul anything in this truck.

  • The available engines for a Ford C-600 in 1960 were: the 292HD V-8 at 180 HP, and the 332HD V-8.

  • Thanks for the info. I haven't done anything to the engine except a tune up, oil change & filter, carb gaskets and a Pertronix kit. It ran very poorly when I got it but runs great now -- no leaks. How would I tell which motor it has? This truck only has 19K miles on it, and all of the paint and plating is still on the chassis, even has the OEM muffler!

  • FYI it is a 292. A 332 is an FE series motor, and this one is a Y-Block.

  • You should go for it. It was no problem. The truck had a huge generator on it, but I built the bed out of scrap metal. This truck weighs 7400# empty and I licenced it for 10,000# gross -- more than I will ever need. The chassis is OK for 16,000#.

    Cost:

    truck - $900

materials - $450 (scrap metal & bed floor)

license - $400 (including title and transfer)

    Thanks for watching!

  • nice job with the truck! lookin good!

  • This is a very nice looking truck, PistonFreddy. Does yours have the hydraulic dump bed?

  • @MegaZsolti

Actually, I believe mine has the HD330, or MD330. has anyone ever found a reliable online decoder for these C-Series trucks? Also, has anyone ever found a source for service/shop manuals for these?

  • @MegaZsolti

I just but a downpayment on one that is very similar, but a 1972. It's going to need some work before it is ready for work, but it is a pretty nice vintage ride. Mine has the 332 FE big block. I don't nkow about the 1960 model?

  • @ushouldntjudgeme

    How big are they?
