@harrymerchant456 ha yeah, what an incredible album that was, especially at the time ! And it still sounds gorgeous and current today, the mark of great art, in my honest opinion :)
@SecretMusicUK Indeed. You can be what ever you like if you become a samplist. I have always believed since my very first sampler that it was a pure musical instrument with so so many possibilities. I always think of DJ Shadows Entroducing album as the epitomy of what talent and a sampler can accomplish. When I talk of sampling I dont mean simply lifting chunks of music from records or commercial sample packs without changing them. I agree packs can be inspirational. Like a silent band member.
@harrymerchant456 yes I agree. As things progress and the tutorials get a bit more "intensive", I will have to rely on more complex setups to illustrate stuff. Take a look at all my performance videos with the OT only or with the MD, it might give you a good idea of what you can achieve with some planning and some x-fader action :)
@harrymerchant456 I like to view a sampler as an opportunity to create music that is really unique and personal. I guess this is why I stay away from loops and try to show how to get results from raw material. It's much more fun this way, for me at least. To each their own though. There's lots to be said about loop libraries and the instant inspiration they can sometimes provide :)
Indeed it is your video that has made me think about buying one. I'm still not sold as I can do quite a bit with the gear I already have. I live in a place where I cant try these boxes out so I rely on YT which isnt ideal at all. As you will know you really need to get a box for about a week to see if your going to gel with it.
Im subscribing to you now so lets see more Octotrak stuff :)
Would be cool if you could do a demo which has a bit of a tune going on as you experiment
Thanks for these videos man. I just got an octatrack and this is helping me get my head around it, It's an extremely powerful machine but with great power comes great head fucks! : D But yeah keep this coming much better than reading the manual, although I am also reading the manual. But you know it puts things in perspective.

@jetforget
Yeah, and the really informative ones seem to always be the lowest views (like my own vids hehe)
This is the only video I have seen which doesnt have some guy playing bedroom DJ yet
many of those videos are hailed as wonderful. Some of them are simply sampling commercial
tunes (they dont even say) cut bits up and viewers think its their own music. Poster doesnt
respond and say ...well actually that bass or drums is from xxx. This is why its so hard to know
if I want one of these.
