i use a free software for 3d animaton and my mouse has 2 side buttons , scroll and left and right buttons... every button exept the main button is configurable, so in the Blender i mapped the all functions that i need for modelling, animating etc. to the combinations of ctrl, shift, alt and some mouse button - that gives me an 8 commands for a mouse key plus 8 commands for scroll up and 8 commands for scroll down - 56 commands for every of 4 different working modes - 222 shortcuts in average!

The software can potentially messup your computer. For me it disabled all sound effects in Adium and iChat. Plus it made my OS in general messup with similar things. I hated it. I just removed it and installed alternative software.
