I don't hit rock in this place often because there is usually plenty of water. But if you watch my video "Visiting Lisa's Stuga" there the motor hit rocks many times. In the next video you can see how the motor actually breaks, and how I fix it in the wilderness.

Nice! Looks like the 8hp really pushes the kaboat around. Love your videos. Really helping my decision to get one. But a question for you. if you will. I am looking to fish this vessel in the skinniest of waters off the Texas Gulf Coast. How shallow would you say I will be able to run with prop in water?

I cannot give you any exact answer. You must make experiments. Loading the boat is critical. There must be enough weight in the bow. Most motors can be tilted to a shallow water position, but that's not ideal way to go. However, I would gues that more than half a meter is needed under the boat. One meter would be safe, unless there are random rocks.... Good luck.
