STUPID!!! this is singapore,less culture. this peranakan things are there since 1930's before war world 2. im proud to be indonesian chn who has a 1687culture inside surrounded.i found many many food,many stories,many clothing&more unique things inside.well peranakan are surrounded in indonesia&malaysia.
just go to jakarta,surabaya,solo&bali,there's still some chinese people who are married with malay who living in peranakan style.
小娘惹 its a movie to teach how to be a good human being.

well, I would suggest that to each his own? Isn't it the same as saying that ... hey we've got westerners and chinese everywhere as well, so does that mean that they are less unique and less acknowledgeable in the USA or in China? No right? :) At least in Singapore, we are doing a good thing to allow Singaporeans to acknowledge this unique culture. Being a Peranakan does not necessary mean that you marry a malay too, fyi :)
