When you turn on the pK you have to push setting and scene together while turning it on.
setting + message is a domino-effect
and
setting + velocity brings the pK to light up after a certain time not touching it

how do you get the padkontrol to light up the surrounding pads when you hit one?

This video convinces me that padKontrol has some good dynamic range, but other hang libraries (Soniccouture, Tonehammer) have even better dynamics and round robin features to make a more convincing performance that one could benefit from.
