@Callixtinus This is breathtakingly beautiful! I wish I could download it.

Yeah, well, I never said she can't actually perform in the usual western manner, I just said that in this particular piece she introduced a syriac style :). Personally I do prefer it (but that's totally a matter of taste).

However, what I have said above is not denial of the beauty of this piece. They did a wonderful job.

To be fair, Sr. Marie has quite a vast Western repertoire and can stylistically execute Western pieces in a Western manner. If she is working with Ensemble Organum here, I would have little doubts that she is using her Syriac background at the encouragement and direction of Marcel Peres.

I heard this and I thought it sounded like Sr Keyrouz chants. Now I know why!
non mi risulta che questo modo di cantare sia del canto ambrosiano

Yes, it is a bit too eastern-sounding.. The piece is from a CD called 'Chants de l' Eglise Milanaise' and the partite is ambrosian. The reason it sounds so eastern is because it is performed by Sr Marie Keyrouz who usually performs Syriac chants and has introduced a certain Syriac fragrance here.
