@reginr - Thank you. I've been going through your Level 4 videos. I registered for N3 by accident, so if you happen to have any videos you've made for N3, I would love to see those. Any N3 vocab, kanji or grammar. Thanks again! よろしくお願いします!

@Sojujinn I have done the same research and know about 10,000 Chinese characters. Another problem with this video is that you put the vocabulary in alphabetical order -- big no no. Please see Alan Baddeley's research on vocabulary retention and the hippocampus. I agree with previous poster, please provide English text + Japanese sound, bc as it is, the video is less useful than flashcards.

Hi reginr,
I'm involved in a project to create JLPT and Japanese learning software. We have been study ways in which people learn. Sorry, if I seemed gruff, that is not my intent.
Just showing Japanese to adults is often not enough, there must be a "bridge" to their native language. So showing the English and/or saying the Japanese is best, as was done in JLPT4.
By viewing the material repeatedly, adults will learn it. It is how the brain "strengthens" memories/neurological connections.

Hi Sojujinn,
You know, what would be even better that your comment is.
Make one better than what you see, post it on YouTube for others to see; including me :)
Happy viewing!

On second thought, I would have to say this video is a failure, unlike the JLPT4 one (which were good). The JLPT4 helped TEACH what the words. Without the English, you are NOT teaching what the words are. You are then making the video into a quiz. The proper way to have done that, was to have the English at the bottom, and a person say the word in Japanese. To quiz and review, you turn the audio off. To learn, you look at the video and read the English, with the Japanese audio on.
Thanks for this vid reginr. I'm studying JLPT 2 and this is a nice quick review of JLPT 3. If you already know the kanji and the meanings, it's good to review the pronunciation just like you have it here, with the furigana below. I suppose it depends on where you are in your studying how useful this video would be. For people who don't know any Japanese, the english would be useful, but if you are trying to recall from memory then having the English is distracting. This vid was helpful for me!

Thanks a lot for your video!!!
It really helps me to prepare for JLPT))
I just found a minor mistake on 01:24... in word "Atarimae" you've missed "ri" before kanji "mae".

@ShindoShuichi35 Thank you for your kind words! Thank you also for the correction advise, I was planning to do some revision but I find I gain more acquaintances by keeping it there. I'm glad you found them though! All the best for your Japanese studies. よろしくおねがいします。
